Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is American Airlines’ largest hub and one of the biggest airports in the world by land area, sitting about 20 miles from downtown Dallas.

Five Terminals on a Free Train

DFW has five terminals, A through E, connected after security by the free Skylink train, since the airport’s footprint is too large to walk between distant terminals.

DART Rail Reaches Downtown, But Takes a While

The DFW Airport DART Rail Station at Terminal A connects to the Orange Line, reaching West End Station in downtown Dallas in about 50 minutes. A car or rideshare is faster, typically 25 to 40 minutes depending on traffic and which terminal you land at.

DFW vs. Dallas Love Field

Dallas Love Field (DAL), Southwest’s home base, sits much closer to downtown and is worth checking for domestic routes, though DFW carries far more international and connecting traffic.
